Barça to Host First Game at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league over two years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
