British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the star in the following the devastating accident.
