Zambia's Daka Nets Late Equaliser for Zambia Versus Mali in Afcon.
The Leicester City forward brought to a close a 20-month goal dry spell for Zambia with his dramatic header in Casablanca.
Zambia's star striker emerged as the hero for Chipolopolo as his stoppage-time header earned a nail-biting 1-1 tie against Mali at the 2025 continental finals in Casablanca.
Mali Takes Early Control
Lassine Sinayoko had given his side the lead shortly after the 60-minute mark in the Group A clash at the Stade Mohammed V, firing in from close range after his initial attempt from a corner kick had been blocked.
Mali controlled the tempo and had an golden chance to go in front in the closing stages of the opening period after a Malian forward was tripped in the box by Zambian defender Matthews Banda.
The designated penalty taker took responsibility for Mali but his low effort was superbly saved by Chipolopolo goalkeeper Willard Mwanza.
The Striker's Heroic Header
Daka later salvaged a point for the 2012 Afcon winners, who were largely overwhelmed by the robust play of their opponents until Banda's delivery into the box was met by the forward.
Tournament Outlook
The result means each team two points behind tournament hosts Morocco in the Group A table after the Atlas Lions claimed victory in their opening game 2-0 against the Coelacanths at the weekend.
Chipolopolo will stay in Casablanca to face their next game against Comoros on the coming Friday, while The Eagles travel to the capital for a crucial match against Morocco.
